The study looked at how rural household waste affects the environment in the Three Gorges Reservoir Area. They studied villages in Chongqing and found that the more money people make, the more waste they produce. The main types of waste were kitchen scraps, wood, plastics, and chemicals. Most of the waste was organic, like food scraps. The current system for handling waste in rural areas needs to be improved.
