Revolutionizing irrigation in Ethiopia: higher yields, less water, happier farmers!
The researchers developed a simple and practical method for scheduling irrigation in a dry area in Ethiopia. They used local farmers' opinions and a basic calculation method to determine when to water crops. This method resulted in higher crop yields and saved water compared to other, more complicated methods. Farmers and experts preferred this new approach. The study showed that this practical method is effective for growing maize in the Gumselassa area.
