Key Microorganism Discovered for Rapid Organic Waste Recycling in Composting
Composting is a great way to recycle organic waste and make organic fertilizer. Microorganisms play a big role in composting, but we don't know much about which ones are important for successful composting. To speed up the process, researchers studied the changes in microorganisms during the early stages of composting food waste. They found that certain types of Bacillales bacteria were always present, but their numbers changed as the organic matter broke down. One group of Bacillales bacteria increased along with Symbiobacterium in the final stage of composting when the organic matter was fully degraded. This discovery could help identify key microorganisms for making high-quality compost.
