Coastal city Ningbo faces rapid land use changes, impacting environment.
Coastal cities like Ningbo, China, have seen big changes in land use from 1990 to 2016. Researchers used satellite images and special tools to study how the land changed. They found that from 1990 to 2005, more buildings were built on farmland and forests. But from 2005 to 2016, there was less new construction land and more farmland. The changes also spread out from the city center and moved up to hilly areas. To protect the land, they suggest keeping farmland safe, using construction land better, and stopping forests from being changed in hilly places.
