Filters in Plant Nurseries Reduce Water Pollution by Nearly 60%
The study looked at the size and shape of particles in irrigation water from plant nurseries and how filters can help remove them. They found that most particles were circular or elongated, with sizes ranging from 1.6 to 301 micrometers. Different water sources had varying levels of suspended solids, with ebb-and-flood water having the highest. Filters reduced suspended solids by around 58%, but pore sizes in some filters were larger than reported. Multiple filtration stages are recommended for ebb-and-flood water due to its high and variable solid levels.
