The researchers studied changes in the landscape of Shizhu County from 2000 to 2015. They found that cropland and grassland decreased, while forestland and built-up areas increased. Water bodies also grew, influenced by the Three Gorges Reservoir. The most significant changes occurred from 2005 to 2010, with built-up areas and water bodies expanding rapidly. Different landscape types were found at varying elevations and slopes, with the most drastic changes in higher areas. Elevation and slope had a bigger impact on landscape changes than aspect.
