The study looked at growing melons with drip fertigation and mulching to see how it affects water productivity and profits. They found that using drip fertigation with mulching led to higher melon yields and better quality compared to other methods. The first crop had the highest yield under drip fertigation with mulching, followed by the second and third crops. Overall, using drip fertigation with mulching increased fruit yield by 56% compared to just drip fertigation. It also increased net profits by Rs. 7.59 lakhs per hectare. Water usage was reduced by 88.5% compared to conventional methods and 34.8% compared to just drip fertigation.
