Restoring degraded alpine meadows boosts biodiversity and soil health.
Ecological restoration projects in alpine grasslands on the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau have improved soil nitrogen levels and biodiversity. However, soil carbon levels and aboveground plant growth did not change significantly. The relationship between different ecosystem services shifted over time, with some trade-offs improving with restoration efforts. Economic benefits from restoration remained stable. Overall, human-led restoration efforts have shown positive impacts on the environment and economy of the region, but more work is needed for further enhancement.
