New model predicts radiation fog more accurately, improving weather forecasts.
The researchers compared two models to see which one is better at predicting radiation fog. They used data from a specific day to test the models. The WRF-LES model was found to be more accurate than the WRF model in predicting fog onset time, temperature inversion layer, and planetary boundary layer height. The WRF-LES model also did a better job at simulating the horizontal spread of fog. Overall, the WRF-LES model is better at forecasting radiation fog than the WRF model.
