Drip irrigation boosts elephant foot yam yield and saves water
The researchers studied how drip irrigation and fertigation affect the growth and yield of elephant foot yam. They tested different levels of water and fertilizer on the plants over three years. They found that using drip irrigation at 100% of the recommended water level, along with a specific amount of fertilizer, resulted in the highest yield of yams. This method also saved a significant amount of water compared to traditional flood irrigation, while still producing a good income for farmers.
