New model predicts design wave height more accurately in marine environments.
A new model called Weibull-Pareto distribution was created to estimate design wave heights in ocean engineering. By analyzing 26 years of wave height data, the model was used to predict wave heights for different return periods. The results showed that the Weibull-Pareto distribution model gives more accurate estimates compared to other existing models. It takes into account fractal features, extreme-value statistics, and truncated data, making it a more practical tool for predicting design parameters in marine and coastal environments.
