Laminated glass panels found to withstand fire better than single or insulated glazing, offering improved safety for high-rise buildings.
The study looked at how laminated glass behaves in fires to improve the safety of high-rise buildings. The researchers used experiments and computer models to understand how different types of laminated glass withstand heat. They found that laminated glass with a 1.52 mm gel layer and 4 glass layers is the most fire-resistant. However, using a 0.38 mm gel layer and 3 glass layers is a good balance of cost and fire safety. The study's models can predict how well laminated glass will perform in fires, helping designers make buildings safer.
