New Method Predicts River Flooding Better, Improving Disaster Preparedness.
The study compared different methods of predicting river discharge in the Way Besai River. They looked at two ways of creating hydrographs: one based on measurements and one based on calculations. The results showed that the method using calculations (SCS HEC-HMS) was more accurate in predicting peak discharge, peak time, base time, and base flow compared to the method using measurements (Gama I). This means that the calculated method is better for estimating how much water will flow in the river during a flood.
