Climate Change Threatens Effectiveness of Green Infrastructure, Calls for Urgent Action
The study looked at how climate change affects Low Impact Development methods. They wanted to see how increased precipitation and evaporation influence these eco-friendly techniques. One way they tested was replacing lawns with other options. This made water retention and filtering better. Compared to using just gardens or roofs, the lawn swap was the best at managing water. The findings said that if we work to lessen greenhouse gases, we can lower rainfall's effects better than with these methods. More rain had a bigger impact on water changes than higher evaporation levels.
