New artificial substrates in Lake Maninjau create thriving invertebrate communities.
The researchers studied the community of small creatures living on artificial structures in Lake Maninjau. They found that these structures provided a new home for various invertebrates, especially Crustaceans and Insects. The diversity of invertebrates was relatively low, but the ones that were there showed a high degree of similarity across the different structures. This shows that the artificial substrates in the lake can create a new habitat for these tiny creatures.
