Ant diversity plummets at high elevations, signaling climate change threat to ecosystems.
The study looked at ant diversity in different elevations in southwest China. They found that as you go higher up, the number of ant species decreases, especially above 3000 meters. Ants that can handle the cold were more common at higher elevations. The type of ants changed more as you moved further between elevations in the subtropical area. This shows that ants adapt to different environments based on the temperature.
