Ancient rock formation in Seri Iskandar holds potential oil reservoir.
The study focused on the geology of Kati Formation in Seri Iskandar, looking at the types of rocks and their potential as reservoirs. They found three main types of rock layers, including sandstone and mudstone, deposited in different ways. The rocks were analyzed to see what minerals they contained, with quartz being the most common. The researchers also measured the porosity of the rocks, which turned out to be around 24.4%, indicating they could hold oil or gas. Overall, the study suggests that the sandstone in Kati Formation at Seri Iskandar has the potential to be a reservoir for valuable resources.
