Soil erosion risk underestimated due to inaccurate soil texture analysis methods.
The article compares different methods of analyzing soil texture to calculate soil erodibility in loamy and sandy-loam soils. Samples from two locations were studied using the Casagrande areometric method and laser diffraction method. The results showed that the laser diffraction method gave higher values for certain soil components. Using the Casagrande method may underestimate soil erodibility due to differences in particle size distribution between the two methods.
