The goal of the article is to find a way to replace anthracite and lean coal in Ukrainian power plants with flame coal or gas flame coal. The researchers suggest using surplus coal produced in the country for this purpose. They estimate that about 3.8 GW of power plant units need to be redesigned for this change. Key steps include modifying coal drying systems, implementing safety measures for using more flammable fuel, and testing boilers with the new coal types. The researchers emphasize the importance of proper coal drying and shredding systems, recommending a low oxygen concentration for safety. They also suggest using natural gas in city power plants to improve air quality.
