China's Zoige Plateau Wetland Faces Severe Ecological Degradation Crisis
The Zoige Plateau Wetland in China is facing severe ecological degradation due to climate change and improper use. Remote sensing was used to track the degradation process from 2000 to 2015. The wetland area has been decreasing, with the most significant decline in 2010. The ecosystem structure was seriously affected in 2000, then improved in 2005 and 2010, but worsened again in 2015. Vegetation biomass decreased in 2015, indicating deteriorated vegetation condition. Overall, the wetland degradation was mild in 2000, moderate in 2005, and mild again in 2010 and 2015.
