Slimmer, More Efficient Insulation Panels Could Revolutionize Building Energy Efficiency
The goal of the study was to improve the insulation performance of buildings by reducing thermal bridges caused by vacuum insulation panels (VIPs). The researchers analyzed different methods to minimize thermal bridges in walls with VIPs, such as using air gap seals and thermal bridge fasteners. The results showed that implementing these methods reduced the thermal bridge effect by 5.2% to 13.6%, indicating that sealing gaps between VIPs and using the right connection materials can significantly impact the insulation performance of walls. It is recommended to use these techniques to prevent insulation performance degradation due to thermal bridges.
