New file replication method slashes storage use by 60% in Cloud-P2P.
A new method called RRSD was developed to make sure data is reliable and storage is used efficiently in a dynamic cloud-P2P environment. The goal was to reduce the number of replicas needed while still keeping data safe and balanced. RRSD uses a mix of centralized and decentralized approaches to create just enough replicas for reliability and balance. By periodically checking and removing unnecessary replicas, RRSD was able to improve load balance by 10% and reduce storage use by 60% while still meeting data reliability requirements.
