Snowmelt Impacts Chungju Dam Basin, Altering Vital Water Flows
The study used a model called SWAT to analyze how snowmelt affects water runoff in the Chungju Dam basin. By comparing simulated and observed data, the researchers found that considering snowmelt in the model led to more accurate results, especially in March and April. The study also showed that the elevation bands and temperature changes near the snowmelt threshold significantly impact the distribution and quantity of water runoff. Further research is needed to understand why temperature changes near the threshold have a strong effect on runoff.
