Mangosteen Beats Dragon Fruit in Antioxidant Power, Study Finds
The study compared the amount of anthocyanin, a pigment with antioxidant properties, in mangosteen and red dragon fruit. Anthocyanin was extracted from the fruits' peels and measured using a pH Differential Method. The results showed that mangosteen had a higher anthocyanin content than red dragon fruit. On average, mangosteen contained 75.50 mg/L of anthocyanin, while red dragon fruit had 38.825 mg/L. This indicates that mangosteen has more anthocyanin molecules than red dragon fruit.
