Pendimethalin effectively controls velvetleaf and Powell amaranth when applied early, but loses effectiveness with later treatments. It works by slowing down shoot growth, stopping leaf and branch production, and reducing leaf size and internode length. The herbicide has the most impact on parts of the plant that are actively dividing cells.
