Vaping Linked to Dangerous Oxidative Stress in Blood
Exposure to electronic cigarette smoke can lead to an imbalance in the body's antioxidant levels, causing cell damage. A study on Wistar rats found that exposure to electronic cigarette smoke decreased the antioxidant superoxide dismutase and increased malondialdehyde levels in the blood. The longer the exposure, the greater the impact on these antioxidant levels. This suggests that electronic cigarette smoke can trigger oxidative stress in the body, potentially leading to harmful effects on cells.
