Molybdenum boosts wheat photosynthesis through nitrogen assimilation, enhancing crop productivity.
Molybdenum can boost the growth and photosynthesis of winter wheat by helping it absorb and use nitrogen more efficiently. In a study using different nitrogen sources, researchers found that molybdenum had the most positive effects when combined with nitrate compared to ammonium. The wheat cultivar '97003' responded better to molybdenum than '97014' when it was lacking. Molybdenum also improved chlorophyll levels and the structure of chloroplasts, essential for photosynthesis. Overall, molybdenum seems to enhance photosynthesis by aiding in nitrogen uptake and assimilation, making it a valuable addition to fertilizer for improving plant growth.
