Optimizing Nutrient Levels Boosts Pigeonpea Yield in Intercropping Systems.
The study looked at how different ways of planting and adding nutrients to intercrops affect the growth and yield of pigeonpea in intercropping systems. The researchers found that the planting pattern and nutrient levels did not significantly impact the seed yield of pigeonpea, but did affect the overall yield. The best yield was seen with a specific planting pattern and with higher levels of nutrients applied to intercrops. The uptake of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium by pigeonpea was highest when 100% of the recommended nutrients were applied to intercrops. Overall, the study showed that planting pattern and nutrient levels can influence the productivity and nutrient uptake of pigeonpea in intercropping systems.
