Standard weed management system outperforms intensive system in crop profitability.
A study compared two weed management systems for different crop rotations in eastern Colorado. The standard system was more profitable than the intensive system for both continuous corn and a barley-corn-sugarbeet rotation. Higher herbicide costs favored the standard system, while higher crop prices favored the system with higher yields. The difference in profitability between the two systems depended on product prices and herbicide costs.
