The Singa Formation at Langkawi Island was studied to understand how it formed. By looking at different types of rock layers and minerals, researchers found evidence of a coastal environment where mud and silt settled. The rocks mainly contain quartz and clay minerals, showing the area was likely a prodelta, or coastal, environment.
