Germany's Energy Revolution: Renewable Power and Electrification Key to Climate Goals
To meet climate goals, Germany needs to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and increase renewable energy use. A new modeling framework considers electricity, heat, fuel, and mobility sectors together to plan future energy investments. By analyzing energy markets and grids, the study found that boosting renewable energy, electrifying heat and transport, and using synthetic fuels are key to cost-effectively reaching climate targets by 2050.
