New herbicide study reveals uneven distribution in soil columns.
The researchers studied how a herbicide called buthidazole moves through different types of soil. They found that while similar amounts of the herbicide passed through all soils, its distribution within the soil varied. In sandy soils, the herbicide spread evenly, but in clay and silt loam soils, more of it stayed near the surface. They also discovered six different forms of the herbicide in the soils.
