Fungi and Urea Treatments Boost Nutritional Value of Bean Straw
Researchers studied how treating bean straw with urea solution or fungi affects its nutritional value for feeding rams. They found that treating bean straw with fungi or urea increased its protein content and made it more digestible. Rams fed treated bean straw had higher dry matter intake and better nutrient digestibility compared to those fed untreated bean straw. The treated bean straw also led to a more positive nitrogen balance in the rams. Overall, treating bean straw with fungi or urea improved its nutritive value for feeding animals.
