Optimizing blast furnace operation for higher coal utilization efficiency and savings.
Pulverized coal injection is important for saving energy and reducing CO2 in iron-making blast furnaces. Researchers used computer simulations and analysis to figure out how to make the most of the coal. They found that adjusting the blast rate is the key to getting the most out of the coal. Increasing oxygen levels also helps with burning the coal efficiently. The size of the coal particles doesn't make much of a difference. This study gives a plan for how to set the operating parameters to get the best use of the coal.
