No-tillage farming boosts crop yield and water efficiency in dry years.
Conservation tillage helps save water and increase wheat yield. Different tillage methods were tested from 2011 to 2016. No-tillage and subsoiling treatments were compared to traditional tillage. No-tillage saved more soil water and increased wheat yield and water use efficiency, especially in dry years. Subsoiling did not save as much water or increase yield as effectively as no-tillage.
