Vitrification Breakthrough Promises Affordable Fertility Treatments for All
Vitrification is currently the best way to preserve eggs and embryos at low temperatures. Up until about 10 years ago, freezing was mainly used for embryos but not so successfully for eggs. This paper looks at the history of preserving eggs and embryos through freezing and examines how to make the vitrification process better. The vitrification method is not perfect because it takes a lot of time, is complicated, and costs a lot of money.
