Housing Shock in Iran Leads to Income Reductions for Vulnerable Families
Fluctuations in housing prices in Iran have a big impact on people's income over time. A study looked at how housing affects income for different age groups. They used data from households between 2007 and 2015 to see how income changed after small (5-10%) and large (15%) housing price shocks. The results showed that small shocks led to a decrease in income for middle-income households, while large shocks greatly reduced average household income. This means that big shocks make it hard for vulnerable households to recover their lost income, while small shocks are easier to bounce back from.
