Thermal power plants' environmental impact revealed: Life cycle assessment uncovers alarming CO2 emissions from combined-cycle systems.
The article looks at the environmental impact of a big power plant in Jakarta that produces electricity by using a method called Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). They studied the whole process of generating electricity there, from getting materials to making electricity and dealing with waste. The goal was to see which parts of the process harm the environment the most and how it can be improved. The study showed that the biggest source of pollution at the plant comes from a specific part of the process called PLTGU, which emits a lot of CO2. This means they could work on ways to reduce this pollution in the future.
