Newly Discovered Patterns in K3 Surfaces Could Unlock Secrets of the Universe
Researchers have classified K3 surfaces with non-symplectic automorphisms of order 16. They found that the fixed locus only contains rational curves and points, and identified seven possible configurations. If the Néron-Severi group has rank 6, there are two possibilities, and if its rank is 14, there are five possibilities. If the automorphism's action is trivial on the Néron-Severi group, its rank is six.
