Sewage sludge can be turned into energy without harming the environment. New technologies like pyrolysis and gasification are being developed for this purpose. In Ukraine, there is a lot of energy potential in sewage sludge that can be used for electricity and heat production. The best way to dispose of sewage sludge in Ukraine is by burning it with other fuels in power stations or cement kilns. Gasification or pyrolysis can also be used for smaller energy projects. Composting is a good way to get rid of accumulated sewage sludge.
