New Eggplant Genotypes Boost Water Efficiency Under Harsh Growing Conditions!
Researchers studied how different types of eggplants use water efficiently in response to light. They found that Zhu-Si eggplants had the highest photosynthesis rate and water use efficiency. The plants showed peak photosynthesis levels in the morning and afternoon, with a drop at noon due to high temperatures. Water use efficiency was highest in the morning and evening, and lowest at noon. The amount of light and temperature affected how well the plants photosynthesized and used water. Zhu-Si eggplants had the lowest light compensation point and the highest water use efficiency. Overall, balancing light and temperature can help increase photosynthesis and water use efficiency in eggplants.
