The ASEAN leaders are working on harmonizing labor standards to help their countries integrate better into the global economy. They created a plan called the ASEAN Economic Blueprint in 2007 to guide this process. The goal is to establish the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) by 2015, which will bring together 10 member countries with a total population of over 620 million people.
