Spatial effects in productivity were studied in Portuguese regions from 1995 to 2005. The analysis showed that neighboring regions had similar productivity levels, especially in services. All sectors also displayed positive productivity correlations. The study found that spatial spillovers and lags influenced the relationship between productivity and economic sectors in Portugal.
