Construction materials are a big part of building costs in Egypt. Estimating these costs accurately is crucial for contractors to make a profit. To improve accuracy, a contingency premium should be added to the estimate. The main factors affecting this premium were identified, including currency fluctuations, raw material prices, supplier monopolies, and contractor experience. Other important factors include planning errors, labor skills, waste control, project location, and supervision quality.
