Thunderstorms altering climate by disrupting stratosphere-troposphere exchange over Kochi.
Thunderstorms can cause the exchange of air between the upper and lower layers of the atmosphere. A radar in India measured this exchange in May 2017. The data showed that strong storms reached high into the atmosphere, affecting the boundary between the two layers. This information is important for understanding how water vapor and energy move between the stratosphere and troposphere, which can impact the climate.
