The researchers developed an optimization model for hybrid electric vehicle powertrains to improve fuel economy and reduce emissions. By adjusting the planetary and final drive speed ratios, they were able to enhance the vehicle's performance. The simulation results showed that the power-split hybrid electric vehicle had better fuel efficiency and lower emissions compared to traditional designs.
