New method accurately tests treatment effectiveness based on side effects severity.
The article introduces a method to test if different treatments are equally effective when ordered by their side effects. The researchers used log-linear models to develop statistical tests called phi-divergence test-statistics. These tests help determine if treatments follow a specific order based on their effectiveness. The study found that the phi-divergence test-statistics have a closer size to the expected value and higher power compared to traditional methods, especially for small to moderate sample sizes.
