Deciduous forest soil respiration rates reveal climate change impact.
The study looked at soil respiration in a small mountainous area in Japan with different types of soil. They found that soil temperature and moisture affected soil respiration in a similar way across all locations. The calculated soil respiration rate was close to the measured rate, with only a 23% difference. Daily soil respiration rates varied between 73% and 122% throughout the year, showing that soil respiration changes consistently over time.
