Sustainable farming systems in Himachal Pradesh boost economic growth.
The study looked at different types of farming systems in Himachal Pradesh to see which ones are most sustainable and economically viable. They found that most farmers in the area grow cereals, with pulses being more common on medium and large farms. Maize-wheat is the main cropping system in rainfed areas, while paddy-wheat and chari-berseem are popular in irrigated regions. The researchers suggest that a mix of crop production, horticulture, livestock, fishery, forestry, poultry, and goatry can help farmers in Himachal Pradesh achieve sustainable economic growth.
