China's Economic Geography Studies Flourish in 1950s, Decline in 1960s.
The article gives an overview of how economic and geographical studies of China have been conducted in our country over the years. Research on China started in the 1930s due to national interests. The 1950s saw a peak in studying China, thanks to good relations between the USSR and China. Interest declined in the 1960s due to political tensions, but research resumed later on, albeit at a lower level. This decrease in research is part of a broader trend of reduced regional studies.
